I'm using arctica-greeter and lightdm on Ubuntu 24.04. I am hiding the user list with 'greeter-hide-users=true'; users must manually enter a username and password. With this configuration the user's session is not set correctly (that is, the user's current selection, from ~/.dmrc or AccountsService is ignored); the session is always set to the current default session (unless the user manually chooses something else). The ~/.dmrc file is then changed to this default session. This is not the case when using unity-greeter, which retains the user's session choice.
