Describe the bug and reproduction steps

If there are messages that are yet to be received by the socket, the empty state UI is shown for a brief moment, resulting in an unpleasant flicker

Is this still happening? Do you mean the flicker that happens between the suggested actions and when your message shows up on the main page?

Actually the problem has become much larger with the home screen taking a significant amount of time before redirecting
