See the end for copying conditions (for this file).
Steps for building from CVS on SLES 10 SP2:
1. Install SLES 10 SP2 from CD/DVD images.
2. Apply updates.
3. Configure /etc/fstab and edit /etc/init.d/autofs to get the box to
work on the internal network. Add self to sudoers with visudo.
4. Install compilers (and everything that comes with it) with:
zypper install gcc gcc-c++ gcc-java gcc-info glibc-devel-32bit libgcj-devel-32bit
zypper install ctags rcs cvs fastjar indent perl-Tk tix gvim
5. Install development tools:
zypper install m4 autoconf automake gettext libtool flex bison texinfo
6. Install kernel symbols and sources:
zypper install kernel-syms kernel-source
7. Install net-snmp stuff:
zypper install net-snmp net-snmp-32bit net-snmp-devel perl-Net-SNMP perl-SNMP
zypper install sensors
8. Install documentation tools:
zypper install transfig groff gnuplot gv jpeg psutils
9. Install more java stuff: (SLES does not have gjdoc!)
zypper install java-1_5_0-ibm java-1_5_0-ibm-32bit
10. libwrap file is broken:
cd /lib64 ; sudo ln -sf libwrap.so.0 libwrap.so
11. Remove noxious xfs modules:
cd /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/fs ; sudo rm -rf xfs ; sudo depmod
The above sould be enough to build from tarball. To build from CVS,
I also did the following:
1. Make a tools directory and perform the following:
default m4 is version 1.4.4 =>
wget --passive-ftp ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/m4/m4-1.4.13.tar.bz2
default autoconf version 2.59 =>
wget --passive-ftp ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/autoconf/autoconf-2.63.tar.bz2
default automake version 1.9.6 =>
wget --passive-ftp ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/automake/automake-1.11.tar.bz2
default gettext version 0.14.5 =>
wget --passive-ftp ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gettext/gettext-0.17.tar.gz
default libtool version 1.5.22 =>
wget --passive-ftp ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/libtool/libtool-2.2.6a.tar.gz
default texinfo version 4.8 =>
wget --passive-ftp ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/texinfo/texinfo-4.13a.tar.gz
default bison version 2.1 =>
wget --passive-ftp ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/bison/bison-2.4.1.tar.bz2
default flex version 2.5.31 =>
wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/flex/flex-2.5.35.tar.bz2
no swig package =>
wget http://superb-west.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/swig/swig-1.3.39.tar.gz
