A couple of alternatives come to mind:

• Liquibase
• Flyway (which I've used in the past)
  How do you want to tackle this? Should we start collecting info here in the issue or add them to the README or ... ?

I think it could become quite a lot for the README, we are trying to keep it short with links to more complete documents, I would prefer a new markdown file in the docs folder.
Our main goal here is to identify differences between Datamaintain and other tools, would that be features, ways to use them (CLI, library), database systems that they can handle and Datamaintain can not...
Other alternatives that came to my mind:

• Mongeez
